Class Action

Class action litigation is different from any other kind of litigation. Class action suits are brought when a lot of people have been injured in the same way by the same item, or when one person's recovery would be so small that it only makes sense to bring an action in the names of many people. It involves a set of rules about who can be in the class, how to certify a class, how people can join or opt out of joining the class, and how any eventual settlement or judgment is divided up among members of the class. Not every law firm is ready to take on a class action.

Mauriello Law Offices has handled class action lawsuits. Our most recent class action suit involves an automotive product liability case against a large American auto manufacturer. Due to a defect in design, many people were injured as a result of this defect. The firm investigated the cases, determined that there was a class of injured people that fit the class action rules, and brought the case, certifying the class and arranging for members to join or opt out of joining the class.

You may be surprised to find out how many people have been injured in the same way you have while using the same product. The companies accused in a class action suit generally are interested in settling these cases. That's where you need an experienced law firm like Mauriello Law Offices. Most class actions settle out of court, but you want to be sure that your attorney isn't giving away your case - and if the case does go to trial, you want experienced counsel to properly present the case on behalf of the class.
